The THC Spot, founded by Jerry Ortiz, has long been known for its detailed reviews of the hottest exotic strains in LA. Now in partnership with Teds Budz The THC Spot is officially a weed brand with the debut launch of their strain Hella Jelly.
Jerry knew he wanted to start a weed brand eventually after establishing himself as a connoisseur of the top shelf. He had a working relationship with Ted from Teds Budz, and had written reviews of Teds Budz strains. The timing, he said, was right, and he and Ted collabed to bring out Hella Jelly. Teds Budz is the distributor, so the strain is now available all over the state.
Jerry says it’s just the begining of his brand.
“We’re gonna run it up. We’re on the Teds Budz menu. Our plan is to curate the best quality experience of cannabis,” Jerry said.
He wanted something that would connect with the audience he’s built online.
“I wanted to drop something for the people, something that people want to try. I’m like yo, check this out,” Jerry said.
To give his own strain a review, he had this to say:
“Right off the top with this flower it has a colorful look to it, a lot of purple to it, heavy trichomes. Second on the flavor you get a lot of coffee tones with a little bit of lemon, a little bit of cherry. Third from the structure you get those little round looking nuggets, a little bit of foxtails. Effect, this one’s more of an indica, so it’ll kind of give you that couchlock, that heavy mental effect, strong relaxation, perfect for a long day.
Next up he’ll be looking out for more unique strains to bring to market.
“I’m working on more flavors, specific terp profiles for the market to try and things that. meet my expectations as a consumer. I want to drop that quality and I understand the consumer,” Jerry said.
